I am a sucker for comedy. I can’t just help a good laugh or some socking stupidity or impossibility. Yesterday, I watched “Small Time Crooks”. I guess this should be the fifth time I am watching this movie. The movie is so nice and funny that one can even listen to it, without seeing any images, and will still love it.

This movie is about a very broke couple who are almost jobless, and rely on stealing and tricking others to earn a living. The woman thinks it is time to get out of that life but the man thinks with one more bank robbery, they can make it and take a vacation to Florida. The movie doesn’t say exactly which, but my best shot will be one of the destin florida vacations.

The man of the house sees a place for rent and believes that they can rent it and drill a tunnel from it to a bank. He invites two of his friends and convinces the lady to be part of the deal. The lady fronts the place by selling cookies while they are busy in the back drilling to the bank. They make a mistake and gets caught, but instead of turning them in, the cops proposes to be part of the cookie business which has flourished beyond anyone’s expectation.

After a year, they make lot of cash but were swindled out of it all. This was easy since they were all illiterates. What makes me happy is that the movie doesn’t end sad. They realized that with all that money, they couldn’t love each other as much as they did when they were broke.

All they needed was a vacation to Florida and somehow, they got it.
