Recently, I got into this secondlife stuff. Wanted to be adventurous and have some fun. Although my video card couldn’t support the SecondLIfe software, I was very happy I could browse the web and learn more about this amazing 3-D virtual world where “everything” looks and sounds “real”.
I also learned that people make money from second life so I started searching for money making opportunities. I found Earn 2 Life, a website that allows secondLife users to make money online.
When I signed up and completed my profile, I was continuously warned by the system that my IP Address belongs to a country different from that listed in my profile. What! I couldn’t believe this. I checked my profile again and my actual country, Cameroon, was what i listed. I am not using any proxy or IP manipulation software, so i knew such a warning was not my fault.
How do I check my IP and the country to which it belongs? I visited CMYIP, and although my IP was shown to me, the site couldn’t tell me my country or city. Oh my God! I thought they were reliable.
However, I am happy that a service like FEEDJIT knows where I am coming from. When I visit a blog that uses FEEDJIT for live traffic feeds, I see Douala, listed as my location. Yes, I am happy with that. That is where my internet provider (MTN Cameroon) is based. I don’t know where the France stuff is from. Most systems online claim I am surfing from france. Hahahaha…I wish, though.
Some multilingual sites are configured to automatically redirect to the language of the visitor. Skype is one of them. When I visit www.skype.com it takes me to the French version.
