The The American Diversity Visa Lottery this year (DV 2010) is now over. Thanks God! At least Uncle Che can have some freedom from those America-obsessed non-Americans. Ha ha ha. I am one of them too, and so is Him. I thought he never wanted to go in for it. I participated earlier but he waited for the very last day to make a submission.
Most people though the lottery was to end at midnight. Oh, sorry for them because they either never cared about the existence of time zones, or did but did some miscalculations. The lottery was officially ending at noon, EST time. EST is GMT – 5hrs. Since Cameroon is GMT +1 hr, that time gave Cameroon GMT + 6hrs. So, instead of noon, here it was 6pm. Hmmm, that’s much time. What were they thinking when they concluded it was mid night? Some people were even spreading false dates. Instead of 1st December, I heard 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th from various people.
The DV lottery is normally free for every qualified individual from any eligible country. However, there are certain services that claim they can handle for application more appropriately and submit your form without any errors. Such services are of various types ranging from the very big well established ones like USAFIS to the medium ones like Galax Infotech, and down to individuals.
At Galax InfoTech, Uncle Che and his Colleague Body Lawson were in charge of the DV Submissions. At the early stage of applications, the work load was not much and they did just about 10 – 20 submissions a day. The numbers steadily rose to and average of 50, to 100 per day. The last three days were just too much for anyone to accommodate. The applications were too many that Che and Lawson spent almost their whole day and night at the cyber café. Che used to get so busy that he couldn’t even type a message to Lainy. I wish I had some spare time to help him out, but no way. He won’t let me since I have an exam to prepare for.
Right now, he is really under stress and spends most of his time resting in bed. I am happy he is doing that. I thought after the DV lottery is over, he would immediately jump into his new Romance Blog. He he he. He exercised some control over the excitement.
He says he needs a cool head before he moves forward. Hmmm.
Is Lainy there? Sis, Che told me you will be very busy this time around. I hope after my exams, we can still find an hour per day to talk.
